Highlights from the Dual Career & International Mobility Event

On 15 and 16 May, INSA Lyon hosted SAMEurope’s final dissemination event to present the project’s results.

The event is held as part of the SAMEurope project. It aims to bring together universities, companies, sports institutions in Europe, and institutional (Erasmus+ agency, consulates, etc.) to discuss in more detail the challenges and ideas related to the project.

Almost 100 participants attended the event over the two days, which focused on dual career (DC) students and their international mobility during their studies, as well as the different ways in which their sport engagements directly impact their mobility. Partners also discussed ambitions for DC universities and the development of the Guide of Good Practices for universities wishing to welcome Erasmus+ dual career students.

The event also included more relaxed and convivial moments, such as coffee breaks for networking, a wheelchair basketball experience and in the evening a cocktail facing the Tri’Crit’Race.

The first day featured an overview of the SAMEurope project, highlighting key deliverables: the Guide of Good Practices and an online platform for Erasmus+ opportunities. Other highlights included the Tri’Crit’Race sport event presentation, an introduction to the EAS network, and reflections on the future of the project.

On the second day, hosted at Matmut Stadium, participants explored the INSA Lyon high-level sport programme and joined a round table on how international mobility benefits DC students, with insights from athletes, companies, and alumni. The event concluded with the presentation of a sociological study on employers’ perceptions of DC graduates and discussions on futures collaborations. A final wrap-up outlined key takeaways and the path forward for dual career support in Europe.

Interest generated by the event

This event provided an opportunity to strengthen ties between crucial stakeholders in charge of supporting DC students, from both the sport and the academic environments. And it was the right place to address any remaining questions, creating meaningful discussions about the future of SAMEurope.

It is essential to support DC students so they can thrive both in their academic journey and in their future professional careers. The ideas proposed by the SAMEurope program were very well received by the audience, with existing partners expressing their approval and support, and new potential partners showing interest in joining the initiative and the platform.
